Knightia is the most common fish in Fossil Lake. It is closely related related to the  herring of today. Remains of Knightia have been found in the mouths and bellies of other fish showing that it was a food source  for the many predators in it's environment. Mass mortality plates have been found containing hundreds of these small fish.
